THINGS I WONT ADD: characters played by cis people of the opposite gender, characters like Xavin or Mystique that are like shape shifting aliens that could be appropriated to suit a trans identifying fan but arent actually trans characters, annnnd real people (unless its non-documentary media about them, like a biography)
*description from jamieofsealand:
Shuichi Nitori, the main, a young transwoman
Yoshino Takatsuki the other main, a young transman, the same age as nitori
Makoto Ariga young transwoman
Chizuru Sarashina crossdressing, genderfluid girl
Hiroyuki Yoshida
**description from radioactive-dandelions
Oshima from the novel Kafka on the Shore is a gay transman who gives a really good account of the the difference between sex/gender. He’s a minor character, so his gender identity isn’t a focus of the book, but he’s written very well.
this just sounded really good to me so i made sure to add it
